From Schiphol

  1. Take the train to Den Haag Centraal

  2. You can purchase tickets from the yellow & blue NS machines or the NS service desk

  3. Do not forget to check in your ticket by tapping your ticket on the yellow and blue check in bollards. These are located close to the escalators that take you down to the train platform

  4. Alternatively, instead of purchasing a ticket you can check in with your contactless bank card. You will be able to check out with your bank card at the gates at Den Haag Centraal station.

Payment

You have three options for paying on public transport:

1. Purchase an OV Chipkaart at the yellow and blue NS machines located at Schiphol/Den Haag Centraal/Den Haag HS. You top up your OV Chipkaart with credit and can recharge it using the machines located on trams or in the stations mentioned above. Note: you need a minimum of 20 EUR on your OV Chipkaart to use regional trains.

2. Pay for each journey using your contactless bank card. Don’t forget to check out every time you get off public transport.

3. Purchase a HTM day/week pass at a train station or a red and black machine on a tram.

Note: HTM is the public transport provider in The Hague region while NS is the Netherlands’ primary railway operator.

- You can charge your OV Chipkaarts using both companies’ machines
- HTM is for bus and tram tickets/passes
- NS is for regional train tickets/passes
